The following is a simplified version of a database that is being used by one of our customers for managing their construction projects, showing the various tables and the relationships between them. The relationships between the tables is critical since it determines how data can be summarized and whether multiple "child" records can be linked to a single "parent" record. For example, by allowing multiple tasks for each project, multiple employees can work on a single project, and the total hours and expenses can be rolled up by each employee or for the entire project.
